Over the past year, since releasing their February 2018 EP, The Sea Engulfs Us and the Light Goes Out, Brooklyn post-hardcore quartet Stay Inside have been hard at work writing and recording new music. Last summer, the band released Balancing Acts, a 5-track collaborative album with Good Looking Friends, which showcased the band’s ability to create emotional yet heavy songs through three-part harmonies, post-rock build ups, and, of course, riffs.
Yesterday, Old Press Records released The Final Girl, a triple split EP that’s been long in the making. The 3-song EP features tracks from Stay Inside along with label-mates Dad Thighs and Great Weights. Stay Inside’s contribution to the split, “Puritans,” indicates that the band is heading in a heavier directions while keeping the melodic intricacies heard on their previous releases.
